Campaign Platform

We are here for the students, and through their needs we will make our decisions. We plan to make things better, by applying work ethics and intelligent ideas. We can continue to work together to provide a College that encourage students to pursue their careers and passions. With your help we can make a great school, even better. As President, I will listen, and act on every idea I can. With one year to make a difference, I plan to hit the ground running. At every  opportunity, I will apply good knowledge as well as the right attitude. With common goals, work ethic, and a positive outlook, we can make this another great year to be at Algonquin College.

Mini-Bio

Hello, my name is Oleksandr Sein, but most people just call me Alex.  I am part of the Outdoor Adventure and Leadership Program.   I’m 27 years old and humor is a big part of my life.  I look at things with an open mind and I’m a great listener.   I am a Gemini, I like long walks on the beach and I love sunsets.  Also, all I want to achieve in life is “world peace”.

Platform

If selected as president, I will support the environment that is created by Algonquin College Students’ Association to the best of my ability.  I will promote lower tuition fees and a better health care plan.  I will rally for more financial support, such as bursaries and scholarships.   I will create more extracurricular activities that would satisfy every student’s needs and build a stronger bond between Algonquin College campuses.  Last and most important is that I will be there to communicate, understand and solve the problems that students encounter on the daily basis

With a background in leadership from the military I’m more then capable to assist the president, and during the absence of the president to perform the duties required. I will be responsible for coordinating proceedings such as the student feedback forum, and advocating for the program council and class representative system.  I have and will always strive to do the best possible job with my skills and abilities in all aspects of the commitments I undertake.

Short Bio

I’m a 21 year old student studying Mechanical Engineering Technology. I also enjoy tinkering around on vehicles on my own time, and playing the guitar.  I have a great sense of duty and determination, which has allowed me to rise in the army reserves to the rank of Master Corporal (For those of you who are unfamiliar to Canadian Forces rank structure it is one rank below Sergeant). In my work I’m currently teaching junior leadership to the soldiers of Canada’s Army. In my off time I consider myself a pretty fun loving guy, as I love to attend comedy clubs and take in the occasional concert.

Did you know the Students’ Association owns and provides many services and departments, including the Fitness Zone, The Observatory, The Landing, and The Soccer Dome? The presence and great impact of the Students’ Association is largely unknown to Algonquin students. Students are unaware of all the services available to them; furthermore, they are unaware that the Students' Association is a method to have their voices heard. If I am elected as Vice-President of the Students’ Association, I plan to encourage the awareness and involvement of Algonquin Students. Students will know that their opinions can be heard and they can make a difference when brought to the Students’ Association. Once we are all involved, Algonquin will be a college of which we, as a student body, are all truly proud to be a part of.

Vote for the Beard!

Vote Basil Richardson for Vice President.

I care about Algonquin College, and I care about the students of Algonquin.  I am happy to be your voice, and I want to continue to hear and respond to your concerns as Vice President.  I stand for the environment, equality, social justice, and a smooth transition from College to work.  I understand the needs of parents, working stiffs, and weekend students.  I can't offer world peace, but together we can make Algonquin a great place to be.

Short Bio

I am in the Construction Engineering Technician program, the weekend edition.  I am 32, 14 years of which I have lived in Ottawa.  I am married to Elizabeth, with two children, Benedict and Clare.  When I am not at school I work as a contractor and a tutor.  When I have free time I like furniture design, art, wood-carving, and genealogy.  My favourite colour is blue.  I dislike long walks on the beach, and I like the absurd.
