attention all curlers!!

All curlers interested in the Thunder Varsity Curling team are encouraged to register at the Athletics Control Desk no later than October 20, 2011.  Algonquin Athletics is intend to enter a Men's, Women's and Mixed teams at the Provincial Championships February 16-19, 2012.  Training will commence winter semester 2012.

Gold for women's curling

Algonquin College is the new OCAA women’s champions, defeating 2010 winner Mohawk College 6-5 in a closely contested final game. Algonquin defeated Mohawk 7-6 earlier in the competition to finish with an 8-0 round robin record. Algonquin was led by skip Karen Sagle. Fanshawe was awarded bronze losing 10-4 to Mohawk in the semifinal. Fanshawe needed two wins in sudden death tiebreakers just to medal.  Individual honours went to Algonquin's Celeste Butler-Rohland who was selected a first team All-Star.
