Halifax band Neon Dreams now shine brightly in the spotlight, rapidly writing one of the most compelling success stories by a fully independent Canadian act in quite some time. Their fresh take on electronic pop combines EDM with live instrumentation, and that is proving an irresistible combination.

Released in August 2016, their seven-song EP To You continues to enjoy astonishing success. To date, it has received over 5 million streams on Spotify and sold over 7,000 units in Canada. That is a remarkable figure for a fully independent band from the East Coast, and it’s one that has certainly caught the attention of both international and domestic record labels.

Those numbers were fueled by recent breakthrough hit single, “Marching Bands” feat. Kardinal Offishall. It reached #15 on the Canadian Top 40, signaling the arrival of Neon Dreams as a group with real commercial potential. That is now being reaffirmed with their new single “Find A Way.” The catchy and melodic track released on Valentine’s Day is destined to charm its way into your heart while seducing your ears.

Last year the group was named one of three winners in the 2016 Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class program. This is Canada’s premiere artist development initiative, and it is one that Neon Dreams has quickly taken full advantage of. Part of the Master Class prize is a trip to the 2017 JUNO Awards in Ottawa and a performance slot at JUNOfest in April.

Neon Dreams has won three Music Express Awards, as Top Canadian R&B/Rap group, Top Emerging Canadian Artist/Group, and Top Canadian R&B/Rap Album, for To You. They join such fellow winners as the Tragically Hip, David Bowie, and Shawn Mendes in the fan-voted awards. CBC Music got in on the act by placing Neon Dreams on their list of 25 Musicians Under 25 You Need To Know.

The musically eclectic yet always melodic Neon Dreams material is now in high demand in the world of television. The band has already notched more than 150 TV placements in such hit shows as Keeping Up With The KardashiansThe Real World, and Silicon Valley.

The group’s current rapid ascent to the top is the payoff for countless hours spent sharpening their skills and forging their sound, both in rehearsal rooms and recording studios and on local stages. Helping place Neon Dreams above most of their peers is the fact that their prowess in the studio is matched by the dynamism and professionalism of their high-energy stage show.

This combination of a strong work ethic and genuine musical talent is proving irresistible. An act to watch very closely indeed.

Skillfully combining the best of hip-hop, reggae, trap, and rock with earworm hooks, Toronto’s Darenots are the genre busting sound of the city. Forming in 2015, vocalists James Mascola and Rev, along with CJ Hinds and Swav Pior of illScarlett, are a veteran lineup that produces an unforgettable live experience which intuitively marries contagious electronic beats with driven guitars and body blasting rhythm.

Between party anthems like “Heavyweight” and “Good Good” and the chill grooves of “911” and “Focus to Faded”, The Now Is Truth is a sophisticated debut EP that effortlessly moves bodies to the beat. Released in early 2016 on NVRNF/Law Records, the ‘ep’ features collaborations with Cam Hunter (Down With Webster), Kaleo Wassman (Pepper) & Grieves (Rhymesayers Ent). Since the release, Darenots have performed to packed houses alongside Hollerado, illScarlett, July Talk, DZ Deathrays, USS, Walk Off The Earth, Pepper and The Dirty Heads.

2017 sees no slowing down as the band gears up to release new music and continues bringing that ‘Good Good’ to crowds across Canada and the US.
