2010-11 Varsity Tryout Dates
Algonquin's Students' Association Varsity teams compete under the auspices of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). Our women's and men's teams play home and away games with colleges in Ontario, leading to Provincial and National Championships. The key ingredient of our varsity teams' success is dependant on you, the student-athlete. Tryouts are open to all full-time students. All potential student-athletes are encouraged to fill out a Player Registration Form prior to tryouts.
Women's and Men's Soccer Tryouts
Open Pre-Season Training beginning Monday, August 16.
Training will be Monday thru Friday.
Women's Soccer - 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Men's Soccer - 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Open Varsity Tryouts beginning Tuesday, September 7.
Women's Soccer - 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Men's Soccer - 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm
*All training and tryout sessions will be held at the Algonquin Soccer Facility (Building Z).
Women's and Men's Basketball Tryouts
Open Varsity Tryouts beginning Tuesday, September 7.
Women's Basketball - 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Men's Basketball - 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm
*All tryout sessions will be held at the Algonquin Gymnasium (Building A-120).

Women's Volleyball - 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Browne and Solanakis named Thunder Athletes of the Year
Allie Browne (Women's Soccer) and Costa Solanakis (Men's Volleyball) took top honours at the Algonquin Varsity Athletic Banquet on April 14. Allie Browne was named the Thunder Female Athlete of the Year leading the Women's Soccer team to a very respectable 9-2-1 regular season. Allie has been the backbone of the defensive core for the last five seasons and was recognized for her efforts by the OCAA naming her the East/Central East Defensive Player of the Year.
Costa Solanakis was named the Thunder Male Athlete of the Year after leading the Men's Volleyball team to a 13-5 regular season and moving up to third in career serving aces with 118 over four seasons. Solanakis has captured two OCAA Gold Medals, one CCAA Bronze Medal, and three OCAA East Region Championships. Costa was recognized by the OCAA this year with a First Team All-Star Award.
