This pack of Algonquin Wolves knows how to celebrate their own.

That’s the whole point of the Varsity Awards.

On Wednesday, March 25, the Wolves athletics community gathered to honour the hard work and countless hours of commitment showcased during the 2025-26 season. It was an opportunity to reflect on the incredible dedication and many accomplishments of Wolves student-athletes and teams, as well as recognize the efforts of the coaches, trainers, and support staff.

This event was capped off with the presentation of three major awards: Female Athlete of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year, and Team of the Year.

Female Athlete of the Year:

  • Alexandra Aubin (Women’s Soccer)

The second-year striker’s dominant season made her a pitch-perfect winner. Aubin led the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) in game-winning goals. She also improved on last year’s Second-Team All-Star recognition by finishing the season second in goals in the OCAA and earning herself a spot as an OCAA East Division First-Team All-Star. Aubin finished third in the OCAA in points with 29, including 12 goals.

Male Athlete of the Year:

  • Alessandra Vivolo (Men’s Soccer)

Vivolo added to an already impressive collection of accolades this season. The third-year winger’s outstanding performance this year led to the OCAA Scoring Title, earned him recognition as an OCAA East Division First-Team All-Star, OCAA East Division Player of the Year, OCAA Player of the Year, and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian. Vivolo led the OCAA with 36 points with 16 goals and 4 assists in just nine games.

Team of the Year:

  • Men’s Soccer

Men’s Soccer was named the top Wolves team for the second year in a row. Dropping only one game on the road, the Men’s Soccer squad was undefeated at home in the regular season with an impressive 9-1 record and reclaimed their spot as the OCAA East Division Champions. This earned the Wolves the opportunity to host an exciting OCAA Championships right here at home, where they would go on to drop a close-fought match to the eventual champions in the Conestoga Condors.

The Men’s Soccer Team saw five players recognized with spots on the OCAA All-Star teams, as well as one player on the All-Rookie team. Overall, players on the Wolves Men’s Soccer team earned an impressive 11 OCAA awards for their performance this season, including the OCAA Player of the Year Award given to Vivolo.

Beyond the big three awards, each Wolves team also presented two awards to their players: Player of the Year and a Rookie of the Year. This year, for the first time, the Pembroke Loggersports team participated. See below for a complete list of all other winners:
