Photo, Video, and Mobile Device Policy
We want to ensure the Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation Centre is a place of privacy and safety for all members, visitors, and associates. We understand that sharing on social media is very common, and we love to see members and associates sharing their successes. Still, we want to do so in a way that doesn’t impact the experience of others.
Please keep the following in mind while capturing a photo or video in the facility:
Photos, videos, and video streaming are permitted in most public areas of the facility; however, they should not capture other visitors, members, or associates unless you have their prior verbal consent.
Photos, videos, and video streaming are not permitted in change Rooms, washrooms, showers, or private offices.
It is very important that no members, visitors, or associates are captured in photos or videos without their verbal permission.
Fitness Classes
Guests can book fitness classes in person at the ARC Welcome Desk.
Equipment
Always consult a qualified staff member of the ARC for assistance if you are unsure how to use any equipment.
Users are responsible for putting away any equipment used during their workout (e.g. plates, dumbbells, accessories, etc.).
Please do not lean weights on any equipment or walls at any time.
Please share equipment with other users when necessary.
Please clean all equipment after use.
Use of the magnetic safety clip is highly recommended while operating a treadmill for your own safety.
Where indicated or otherwise specified by ARC staff, additional equipment may be required for certain activities (e.g. bowling shoes for bowling, etc.). These items will be loaned out to the Day Pass user with the exchange of a valid photo ID card at the ARC Welcome Desk or the Wolves Den Games Room.
Please report any damaged or unsafe equipment to staff on duty at the ARC.
Towel service is not provided by the ARC. Please bring your own towel.
Attire
Proper athletic clothing is required while working out in the training facility. Street clothes are permitted in the Wolves Den Restaurant and Games Room.
Clean non-marking indoor athletic footwear must be worn when training in the facility. Boots, sandals, crocs, bare feet or socks* are not permitted.
(*Socks are permitted during stretching on the turf or in the fitness studios.)
Food and Drink
Food is not permitted in the fitness or athletic areas of the ARC. This includes any outside food or food purchased from the Wolves Den Restaurant.
No glass bottles are permitted in the facility; only leak-proof plastic bottles.
Please refrain from bringing sticky and messy beverages in the facility (e.g. energy drinks, or protein powder mixes).
Lockers
Gym bags, purses, coats, and outdoor shoes or boots are not permitted in the following areas of the ARC at any time: all fitness training areas (including Studios A and B), the Rec Gymnasium and the Varsity Gymnasium. Please secure all personal belongings in a facility locker.
Members and guests have access to day lockers provided in the locker room while using the facility. Lockers are not to be used while away from the facility, as a college locker can be rented through Campus Services.
It is strongly recommended that a lock (available for purchase at the Welcome Desk) be used with a locker to avoid theft. No locks are to be left on overnight. If a lock is left in a change space or locker room overnight, a 24-hour notice will be issued. If the lock is not removed after 24 hours, it will be cut, and the contents will be sent to the Algonquin College Security office.
