Our friendly Client Service Associates can help you with all your questions. Book a tour to learn about everything the ARC has to offer, or sign out basketballs and other equipment for Open Time in the Rec Gym.

Are you new to working out, or just need a refresher? Book an Equipment Orientation and our staff will show you how to use the workout equipment safely and effectively!


Turf Training Area

Use the sleds, tires, ropes, and plyo-boxes to enhance your workout. Try some agility and speed drills, or join a multi-station group circuit on the functional cross-training rig.

Free Weight Area

Welcome to the only official Hammer Strength training facility in Ottawa!

The 10,000 square foot Free Weight Area includes plate-loaded Hammer Strength equipment, Mondo sport flooring, heavy-duty racks and rigs, benches, dumbbells and a wide variety of accessories to customize your workout.


Climbing and Bouldering Wall

Use one of 5 auto-belays to reach the top of the 34-foot Climbing Wall, or go rope-free on the 15-foot Bouldering Wall. Each wall has a number of routes designed for different skill levels. Challenge yourself to complete them all!

Requires the Belay and Safety Instruction Orientation. Book your training at the Welcome Desk to learn how to be safe and have fun while climbing.

Rec Gym

Play basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, floor hockey, and fun games like 3-on-3 tournaments, bump, and pickle ball. Open time will be available for students to drop-in and participate throughout the week.


Varsity Double Gym

Cheer on our Wolves varsity women’s and men’s basketball and volleyball teams, or catch a concert when the gym doubles as an event venue.


Second Floor

Discovery Track

Run, walk, or wheel the 346m track as it winds and inclines around the second floor, giving you a bird’s-eye view of the entire ARC.

Add some weight training to your regular cardio workout! Jump off the track at an exercise node in the Second Floor Fitness Area to complete a selectorized or free-weight circuit. When you’re done, hop back on the track. Repeat!

Do a little or a lot – the choice is yours.


Second Floor Fitness Area

Everyone can find a training approach that works for them – whether it’s your first or fiftieth time at the gym. Explore our five exercise nodes: Cardiovascular, Accessible Equipment, Selectorized Life Fitness, Selectorized Cybex, and Personal Training Circuit Training.

Our equipment includes Life Fitness Row GX trainers, Elevation Series Elliptical Cross-Trainers and Total Body ARC trainers, Air runner treadmills, Jacobs’s ladders as well as Assault Air bikes – many choices for many different body types and your own unique preferences.


Fitness Studios

Take a group class in one of our two Fitness Studios. One studio has a traditional wood floor and hosts classes such as Zumba, circuits, and yoga. The other second has a sport Mondo floor for classes including spinning, boxing, and kickboxing.
