Welcome back, Wolves!
There’s always something so exciting about the beginning of a new school year. The campus gets that familiar hum of activity, old routines start returning, and there’s a whole year ahead of new and exciting opportunities. Whether you’re at the start of a new academic year or continuing one underway, I hope you’re feeling ready and excited for what lies ahead. I’m looking forward to seeing our community return and continue to grow together at Algonquin College.
There’s already a lot happening on campus this September, but I wanted to highlight some fun, new activities to get involved in. For the first time ever, we’re hosting a silent disco and a Beats and Brews event. Social events and activities can play a big part in your experience here at the college. It’s important to remember to balance your studies with rest and social time. There’s an amazing student community at the college, and student events are a fantastic way to be a part of it.
Our Wolves varsity sports seasons are also getting underway. We’re also excited to announce a brand-new cheerleading team this year! This is a great opportunity to be involved and active, and to build the atmosphere of our home games. If you’ve never attended a Wolves game, I highly recommend it. There’s something special about being in the crowd, so grab a season ticket to make planning your year easier and join me in cheering on our fellow students. All games are free for students!
There have also been a few important changes to the Student Health Plan. I highly encourage everyone to look at the health plan options to see what you have available and what works best for you. And this is only one of the many services that the Students’ Association has to offer! A new school year is exciting and can be daunting, and we are here to help you make the most of it and be as successful as possible.
So, with the start of the new school year now underway, let’s all take some time to explore, connect with each other, and find our place in this amazing community. Remember that rest is not a reward for finished work, but rather an important part of the process. Your time here is just as much about the people you meet and the memories you make along the way. If you ever see me in the halls, please come say hi! I would love to chat and get to know all of you. I’m excited to see what this year has in store for us all.
Welcome back, and let’s make it a great year!
Jacob,
President, Students’ Association
