Introducing Your 2023-2024 Recommended Board

Meet your 2023-2024 Recommended Board ahead of the Annual General Meeting on Thursday, March 16, 2023!

Join us for the Annual General Meeting on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 12:00pm in the Corner Lounge (E133) on the Ottawa Campus to vote for your 2023-2024 Recommended Board of Directors. All fee-paying members of the SA are welcome to attend the Annual General Meeting.

Nishanth Babu Battula

Hometown: Hyderabad, India

Campus: Ottawa

Program of Study: Business Marketing

Mission on the Board: My goal is to learn something new while on the Board, and I’m most excited to meet more people from different cultures and backgrounds who can help broaden my horizons.

Haylie Boucher

Pronouns: She/Her

Hometown: Deep River, Ontario

Campus: Pembroke

Program of Study: Applied Nuclear Science and Radiation Safety

Mission on the Board: A few things that I am most looking forward to achieving in my time on the Board are creating a cleaner outdoor environment, as we have many outdoor-geared programs that take advantage of our beautiful waterfront campus. I am also looking forward to connecting with other students on the campus, getting to know more people outside of my program, and learning about other perspectives of experiences at Algonquin College.

Program of Study: Massage Therapy

Mission on the Board: I would like to improve campus safety, improve accessibility for modes of transportation both active and passive, and look at having more options for student success in many modalities.

Program of Study: Heritage Carpentry and Joinery

Mission on the Board: I am excited to be a part of evolving the Algonquin Perth campus as the town of Perth grows. I would like to grow the student culture and create more social and networking opportunities.

Program of Study: Business Administration – Finance

Mission on the Board: Some goals that I would like to set up while I am on the Board would be to make sure that I help the people in need with all the guidance that I have.

Abigail Soto Carvajal

Campus: Ottawa

Program of Study: Computer Systems Technician

Mission on the Board: I look forward to enjoying the journey, to never forgetting the privilege of being the channel for so many people. Being the helper – the hand and the ear for everyone in need – is a personal work, always in progress and an endless commitment.

Braeden Suggitt

Campus: Perth

Program of Study: Heritage Carpentry and Joinery

Mission on the Board: Move towards getting a student residence in Perth. I am also excited to learn more about the other campuses and how I can best help to meet their needs.

Riley Wang

Hometown: Xinjiang, China

Campus: Ottawa

Program of Study: Interactive Media Design

Mission on the Board: My vision is to enhance direct communication and friendship links between international and domestic students. International students will have the opportunity to become friends with domestic students, and domestic students will have access to more information from the perspective of international students. Both sides will integrate better.
