February is Black History Month, and this year we’re bringing powerful conversations, vibrant culture, and community celebration right to campus. From an inspiring keynote to a live dance performance, and yes, free food, these events are open to students and designed to spark connection, reflection, and joy.

Whether you stay for five minutes between classes or the full hour, this is a chance to engage with cultural expression that has shaped global music, dance, and art. Student Commons – Celebrate Black History Month with a campus favourite. Stop by the cafeteria for free Jamaican patties and connect with fellow students over great food. Come early; once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Black Canadian History Display
All month | Starting Feb 2
Student Commons – Explore poster boards featuring profiles of prominent Black Canadians who have shaped culture, politics, activism, and the arts. Whether you’re passing through or stopping to read in depth, this display offers space for learning and reflection throughout the month. All events are FREE and open to Algonquin College students. Mark your calendar, bring a friend, and be part of a month-long celebration of history, culture, and community.
