Do you love badminton? Join the badminton tournament!

The tournament will take place in the ARC rec gym on Friday, December 9, between 10:00am and 7:00pm. All equipment will be provided by the ARC team, and no uniform is required, but don’t forget to bring your valid ARC proximity card!

Rules

Here is a brief overview of the tournament rules:

Scoring System

  • A match consists of the best-of-three games of 21 points each.
  • Every time there is a serve, there is a point scored.
  • The side winning a rally scores a point.
  • At 20 all, the first side to gain a 2-point lead wins that game.
  • At 29 all, the side scoring the 30th point wins that game.
  • The winning side of a game makes the first serve in the next game.

Interval and Change of Ends

  • Players should switch ends after the first game and in the third game (if one is played) when the leading score reaches 11 points.
  • A two-minute interval between each game is allowed.

Assumption of Risk

Inherent risks are associated with every recreational activity. Participants assume these risks when they agree to participate. All participants are strongly advised to secure health insurance coverage and to visit their physician for a physical examination prior to registration or participation.

Parking

Paid parking is in effect at all times. Red Parking Lot 8 is the closest possible lot to our venue. Parking is a $6.00 flat rate on weekends and after 5:00pm on weekdays in Lots 8, 9, 10 and 12. See Algonquin College Parking Services for the parking map.
