From global comedy stars to country icons to the genesis of Genesis, the Algonquin Commons Theatre (ACT) stage features a dynamic lineup this month.
Global Comedy:
Comic geniuses from around the world grace the stage. It all starts on Friday, May 2, with ISMO (sold out), who has been called the most insightful comic in Finland. Drag queen Alyssa Edwards showcases her glitzy performances and humour on Sunday, May 4. Dale Elliott Jr. brings his “Son of an Immigrant World Tour” to town on Friday, May 16, and comedy sensation Urzila Carlson, a South African-New Zealander, brings her deadpan delivery to the spotlight on Tuesday, May 20.

Country Icons:
Country music lovers can get their fix in May. Kicking it off, the final tour of Carroll Baker, “Canada’s First Lady of Country Music,” on Thursday, May 1. Then the Alan Jackson Experience — AKA Aaron Halliday — returns to Canada with the increasingly popular tribute to the country music icon on Tuesday, May 6.

History Reborn:
Canadian tribute band The Musical Box resurrect Selling England by the Pound — the famous 1973 Genesis album and tour. On Friday, May 30, relive the iconic sights and sounds originally brought to life by Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, and their iconic bandmates.
