A Message from the SA President: Stay Connected this Fall
SA President Vanshika Sharma discusses the start of the term and opportunities for Algonquin College students to recharge and connect with each other.

Hi Wolves!
It’s October, which means we are all starting to settle in and enjoy the things that make the Fall Term so special. For me, that means going outside to enjoy the colourful trees, mild cold breeze, and a cozy warm drink. I’m looking forward to meeting many of you and learning what you love about studying in the fall.
This month is a good time to explore the parts of student life we sometimes forget while focusing on studies. If you ever feel like you need time to recharge or unwind, the Students’ Association hosts events and offers opportunities throughout the term to help you make the most of your time. Here are a few activities from each campus:
Ottawa Campus is hosting a Free Movie Night every month for the rest of the term. October’s movie is Sinners, and there’s a lot of variety from month to month. November’s is Materialists, and December’s is Superman (2025). All three feature free popcorn and plenty of room for your friends.
Pembroke Campus is hosting its Relaxapalooza — six self-care events where you can relax and reconnect — from October 7 to October 16. There’s everything from candle making to a Mario Kart tournament. Check it out if you need a break while studying for midterms!
If you’re an Algonquin College student in Perth, you can get passes for off-campus activities like indoor skating and public swimming. It’s great for anyone who likes to de-stress through fun and exercise.
And of course, if you’re looking for events that bring us together as a community, I encourage you to attend one of our Varsity sports games. Students can register for free tickets. Soccer and Rugby are finishing their regular seasons, and Basketball and Volleyball begin before the month ends. Being part of the Pack while cheering on our Algonquin Wolves is an amazing experience that every student deserves — and a great energy boost.
Whether this is your first fall at the College or the last before you graduate, I want to share some words that have helped me: “Well begun is half done.” As we go further into our year, remember the courage that brought you here. It will help you the rest of the way, so believe in yourself and enjoy the process. That’s what matters most.
Best wishes,
Vanshika,
President, Students’ Association
