Thank you to the 2022-2023 Algonquin Students’ Association (SA) Board of Directors for a year of devotion to Algonquin College students!

The Board of Directors is made up of full-time Algonquin College students who are elected each spring to serve a one-year term in office. They govern the SA through policy development, guided by our mission to create an environment that inspires a passion for student success.

This year, the Board of Directors worked hard to improve the experience of present and future Algonquin College students. They oversaw the SA’s biggest-ever class representative meetings and advocated for priorities such as academics, housing, and support for international students.

“As you wrap up your term as Director, I hope you take some time to pause, reflect, and enjoy the warm glow of achievement for all your good work. This has been a very successful year in Board leadership, even in the face of uncertainty and adversity. Despite it all, you came together and fulfilled your duty to students,” says Jack Doyle, SA General Manager and CEO.

Throughout their term in office, the Board of Directors worked with students and Algonquin College staff to accomplish their priorities. Some of their major accomplishments include:

  • Improving and expanding the mandate of the International Student Advisory Committee and increasing availability of appointments in the International Education Centre.
  • Working closely with the City of Pembroke as they discuss housing and public transit.
  • Created the Mental Health Steering Committee with Algonquin College, focused on centralizing and promoting mental health support on campus.
  • Created the mandate for a pan-Algonquin student life committee, ready to launch in the upcoming academic year.
  • Developed a Class Rep Handbook with Student Support Services, ensuring class reps have resources to support their peers. They’ve also approved new Class Reps Policies that allow future Boards to interact with Class Reps in new ways.

The SA and our membership are thankful for your leadership and hard work, and we wish you well on the next steps of your journey!
