Add a Family Member - Algonquin Students' Association

Eligible students can add one or more family members (spouse, child, or dependent) to their plan for an additional fee.

Your added family member(s) will receive the same benefits you have and will be covered for the same time period. Family members cannot be enrolled in a different flex plan from the one you’ve chosen for yourself.


Who Can Add a Family Member

Family opt in is only available in the Fall (September) or Winter (January) semesters.

Students who start class in the Spring (May) semester have coverage until August 31. After August 31, if you have classes and meet eligibility requirements, you will be covered until the following August 31 and you may add a family member to your plan in September.


Deadline to Add a Family Member

You may only add a family member to your plan during your first semester of class within the current Student Health Plan coverage period.

If you miss the deadline, your next opportunity to add a family member will be the following September 1, if you meet the eligibility requirements.

No exceptions will be made for missed deadlines.

How to Add a Family Member to Your Plan

  1. Check if you are within the Family Opt In Period
  2. Visit WeSpeakStudent.com and select Algonquin College
  3. Click on “Family Opt In” and follow the instructions to pay your fees
