Curious about starting or joining a club on campus? Not sure what this whole “clubs” thing is about? Look no further – allow us to introduce you to the world of Clubs and Communities!

Clubs offer you the chance to create your own communities right here on campus. They can provide enriching, creative, social, and passionate experiences – the variety of Clubs is endless!

One question we often hear is, “What’s the difference between starting a club and just getting together with friends?” The difference is that SA-recognized clubs have access to a ton of resources and support.

As an official club, you get a few major benefits:

  • You can book space on-campus for meetings
  • You can get support for planning events and activities
  • You can access resources for promoting your club to new members
  • In some cases, you can also get funding for your club

We encourage all types of clubs! You can join or start clubs for socializing, academic pursuits, cultural experiences, health and wellbeing, sports and fitness, arts and creativity, games and recreation, and more. Just take a look at our list of clubs – and if any of them interest you, we encourage you to sign up!

If you don’t see anything that sounds right to you, no worries – you can also start your own! Starting a club might sound like a lot of work, but you’re not alone. You can get started by filling out the forms on the Clubs Portal – and if you have any questions, you can always reach out to your Clubs and Communities Coordinator!

A great opportunity to check out the world of Clubs and Communities is at Clubsfest! You can join us on Tuesday, May 16, in the Student Commons (E Building) to discover the huge variety of clubs you can join. Plus, if you’re interested in starting a club, we’ll be there to answer all of your questions.

I hope to see you there – join us and enter your Clubs era!
